Behind the Bar: Wine & Cheese Pairing

Behind the Bar: Wine & Cheese Pairing

Cheese & Wine seems like a simple pairing, doesn't it? Bottle of wine, a few nice cheeses, and boom! You're set for entertaining, or a solid start to an evening. But like most things in life, it can be a little more complicated than that. There's a whole range of factors involved in both the cheese and wine side of things (Fat! Acid! Tannin! Fruit! Everything else!) that can make the pairing absolutely amazing, generally okay, or downright off-putting. Join Matt Connor, our unofficial "wine guy" and unlicensed cheese aficionado, for a guide to pairing wines with cheeses, and hopefully, an explanation of why things work the way they do.

The vast world of alcohol can be intimidating. Whether it's beer, wine, or spirits, there are an overwhelming number of options, and it can be a challenge to figure out what you might enjoy when you are flying blind. To help with this we're launching "Behind the Bar" - an educational tasting series where we bring in some of our favorite Bartenders/professional drinkers to guide us through a selection and provide some knowledge along the way. It's basically school for booze, which is much more fun than normal school, since you get to drink as you go.

Cost includes expert instruction, 5 tasting pours (2 oz each) and light appetizers.
